Registration FAQs

  • What age can my child start lessons?

Most students start around age 8, when their hands are big enough and coordination is developed enough to experience early success. We occasionally make exceptions for younger kids if they’re especially motivated and ready. Our goal is always to set students up for a fun, confidence-building experience, not frustration.

  • Can my child sign up at any time?

Yes! Registration for the school year opens up in August. Spots fill up quickly, but you can always reach out to see if we have availability. Registration for our June-July summer program opens up in the spring.

  • What gear is required? Where do I find it?

Your child will need their own instrument to practice at home. We’re happy to recommend age-appropriate, beginner-friendly instruments and trusted local or online shops. You don’t need anything fancy, just something comfortable, playable, and reliable to get started.

  • How often are lessons offered?

Lessons and band practice are offered once a week. Sometimes there will be 3, 4, or 5 lessons a month depending on the calendar but the flat rate stays the same.

Lessons are 30 minutes and band practice is 1 hour each week.

Love from parents

We can’t say enough ‘good’ about Andy White and Good Times Guitar! Both my children took lessons from Andy. The Good Times team not only taught them how to play instruments, but more importantly, taught them to fall in love with music which has stayed with them for years afterwards. Their lesson was always their favorite time of week - and who can say that about their music lesson! As a parent I was not only wowed by the amount of songs the kids learned and the speed with which they did, but also how Good Times made them confident enough to get up in front of a crowd and perform those songs. Those performances are still some of our most precious family memories. Andy and team also poured their hearts into getting to know my child as an individual and made them feel confident and special. Good Times is the best of the best!
