Update on COVID-19

Safety is our first priority.

We want to update our Good Times family on the COVID-19 situation and reassure you that student safety is our number one priority. The situation is changing every day, and we are closely monitoring recommendations from the CDC. At this point, we are planning to continue all lessons and band practices. Now that schools have closed and students will likely be cooped up, a little music might be a really good outlet for our students.Small gatherings with appropriate social distancing are currently approved by CDC recommendations. Things could change quickly and we will continue to update you via email.

Please know, health and safety are at the forefront of our priorities right now and we plan to do the following to maintain the safest environment possible.

1. Wiping down all door handles, surfaces, music stands, chairs and other common areas every hour.

2. Maintaining a 6 foot social distance during lessons and band practices.

3. In lieu of high fives or hand shakes, we’ll master the art of the “air five”.

4. We will wash our hands or use hand sanitizer before and after each lesson. We will ask our students to do the same.

5. If our teachers, students or family members are experiencing any cold or flu like symptoms, we ask that they stay home.

MUSIC SUGGESTIONS

1. Use the extra time at home to increase your music practice!

2. Open your music folder and master those songs you haven’t had time for.

3. Write a song!

3. Listen to new music. Or rediscover some old favorites!

Soho Concert full of Good Times!

Our second concert of the school year was at Soho last week! We had over 110 guests pack the house and enjoy a fun filled night. The students that performed were truly amazing! Great bands, delicious food and Good Times all around. It was a night to remember.

Our Band Practice Program was on full display. It featured 4 song sets from the Highway Rollers, Four-Ground, Billy Jovi and the Surviving Beatles, and the Hound Dogs. Additionally, another rockin’ set was provided by “Coldfoot”, a combo group of our students taking lessons this year.

We’re blown away by the quality of music and amazing Good Times community. Y’all are the best and we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE teaching your kids.

We hope to see you at our summer program! If you haven’t registered yet, you can sign up HERE.

Let the Good Times roll.

Independent crowns ‘Good Times’ as a “Best Bet” in town.

Prior to our recent concert at Soho, Good Times was featured in the Santa Barbara Independent as a “best bet” in town. We hope you think so too!

New Program alert: “Band Practice”

We’re starting a brand new program and we think you’ll love it! It’s called “Band Practice” and it’s open to all intermediate and above students. This is an amazing opportunity to fine tune your musical abilities in a group setting. Each band will meet for a full hour every week and polish songs together. Over time, they’ll have a substantial set of tunes that are performance ready.

Speaking of performing, that’s exactly what they’ll do! Besides obvious school opportunities (like chapels and talent shows), each band will be given multiple opportunities to play gigs around town. Good Times will book concerts at local venues like SoHo, etc, and the bands will hit the stage!

This program is designed to accelerate student progress, make music more fun and save you money. The price will be just $115/month. We’ll plan to mostly meet 4x per month. If you miss a week here or there, no problem. The price is still $115/month. Occasionally, we’ll meet five times instead of four. Other months, we’ll skip a band practice due to a holiday, etc. It’s like Netflix – same price every month. The important thing is that you will want to BE in the band! We’ll be learning, having fun and playing shows. What could be better?

Although students will be in a small group setting (3-5 per band), individual attention will still be given. New skills, chords, scales and theory will be shown to each student as we work through the material. The program will run from September until the end of May.

Questions? Please don’t hesitate to ask! andy@goodtimesguitar.com

**NOTE: If your student is still a beginner, we recommend sticking with regular lessons until basic skills are up to speed. Band Practice will be waiting for them when they’re good and ready! Register for lessons HERE. If you’re not sure if your student is ready, just ask! We’ll help you evaluate their readiness. 🙂

Good Times Concert Video

The Good Times Concert totally rocked! We’re so proud of all our students for doing a tremendous job. We had EIGHT different bands perform. Here’s a full video of our concert. Click HERE to watch! #GTconcert18

Good Times Drums

We really love teaching kids to rock on drums. Molly has put in a couple months of focused practice and it has really paid off! Way to go, kiddo!

Good Times Shines at Chili Roundup!

I asked several of our “Good Times” students to play some live music at Elmo’s Chili Roundup. They did a spectacular job! Practice pays off when you get to enjoy playing live music at a fun outdoor event!
